The month of October means playoff baseball, and there are four Wild Card Series games set to take place on Tuesday. The Milwaukee Brewers host the Arizona Diamondbacks in one of the series in the National League, and this should be a battle.
Arizona earned the final Wild Card spot in the National League, and they were fortunate to even sneak into the field. The Diamondbacks lost four straight games to end the regular season, but they exceeded expectations in the regular season.
The Milwaukee Brewers finished the regular season with a record of 92-70 to easily claim the NL Central Division Crown. Milwaukee now hopes that their starting rotation will be enough to allow them to go on a big run.
The Brewers are the moneyline betting favorites at -190 over the Diamondbacks in Game 1 of this series.
Diamondbacks Must Deliver at the Plate
Arizona is not going to win this game with starting pitching, and that puts a ton of pressure on the offense to deliver. Corbin Carroll is going to win the Rookie of the Year this season, and he needs to set the tone at the top of the lineup.
Carroll is hitting .285 this season, and he is always a threat to steal a base when he is able to get on. Christian Walker is another great hitter in this lineup, as he led the team with 33 home runs and 103 RBIs.
It will be Brandon Pfaadt making the start for the Diamondbacks in this game, and he went just 3-9 with a 5.72 ERA this season. Pfaadt will have a short leash in this game, but he needs to at least give his team a chance.
Milwaukee Loaded With Pitching
The Milwaukee Brewers are not a team that is going to overwhelm opponents with their offense, but they always have a ton of pitching. Corbin Burnes will be on the mound in the series opener, and he continues to deliver for this team.
Burnes went 10-8 with a 3.39 ERA during the regular season, but he is actually capable of being much better than that. Milwaukee also has a dominant bullpen that can shut down a game if they are given a lead.
Willy Adames had a huge season at the plate for the Brewers as he belted 24 home runs and drove in 80 runs this season. Milwaukee will need to connect on some long balls if they are going to win the series.
Burnes, Brewers Beat the Diamondbacks
The starting pitching matchup in this game favors the Brewers in a very big way, and that tends to matter in the postseason. Arizona finished the regular season in a slump at the plate, and now they have to deal with a dominant pitcher in this game.
Corbin Burnes is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball, and he is going to put the Brewers on his back in this game. Milwaukee isn’t always a great offensive team, but they are going to find just enough offense to win the series opener.
Bet the Arizona Diamondbacks at -190 on the moneyline as they are able to pick up a win to begin the series.
