Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview
The Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals are set to begin a three-game weekend series. The Cubs are coming off of an off day and gained a little bit of momentum with a series-ending win over the Houston Astros. The Cardinals are on pace for their worst month of May in team history.
This weekend should be a good sign for whoever wins the series. Both teams are looking for momentum, and both teams are looking to make playoff pushes this season. The Cubs are in first place in the National League Central, and the Cardinals are creeping towards the bottom of the division. The Cardinals are favored to win at -120.
Cubs Look to Start Winning Streak
After a blistering run through the end of April and beginning and middle of May, the Cubs have started to cool off. They have not won a series in their last five; prior to that, they had won eight series in a row. Against a struggling Cardinals team this weekend, it sets up for a perfect recipe for them to get back to their winning ways. We are starting to see the Cubs offense come around, while the pitching has resorted back to what it was at the beginning of the season.
This is a big series for the Cubs, and they are looking to sweep a division rival. Yu Darvish will take the mound for the Cubs in the first game of the series. He has had a rough season so far, but the peripherals are looking like they are turning around finally. If he could go a minimum of six innings, it would be a win.
Cardinals Try to Stop Bleeding
On the cusp of the worst month of May in team history, Cardinals are really needing a series win. The pitching for the Cardinals has not been good, but the batting has not lived up to the potential either. There has been a lot of blame placed on the management, but the players do need to perform to their capabilities.
This is a Cardinals team that is very talented and sooner or later will need to start playing like they are capable. With this series being at home, St. Louis has a perfect opportunity to turn their season around. The Cardinals will send Miles Mikolas to the mound for the opener. If they are swept, it could be the start to a very long year.
Cubs Take Opener
This is a big game for both teams. This is always an exciting series, and this year is no different. These two teams have a lot of hate towards each other, and they will be playing six different times in the next two weeks. The Cubs are the better team both record-wise and on paper, so look for the Cubs to take down the Cardinals. I think that the Cubs are just overall a stronger team, and I think the pitching will carry them to the win tonight.
