UConn Huskies vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs Prediction – Fri, Dec 15, 2023
The college basketball season is still pretty young, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t see some great games taking place. On Friday night it will be the UConn Huskies taking on the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Continental Tire Seattle Tip-Off event.
The UConn Huskies are the defending national champions in college basketball, and they are off to a 9-1 start so far this season. UConn’s lone loss this season was to the Kansas Jayhawks, and that was a game in which they were in until the end.
Gonzaga comes into this game with an 8-2 record on the year, but they are still ranked inside of the Top 10. The Bulldogs are going to be looking for a signature win after missing out on a couple of chances already this season.
UConn is a slim 1.5-point betting favorite over the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Friday night in Seattle.
Huskies Can Really Score
The UConn Huskies enter play on Friday night with a ton of confidence, especially on the offensive end of the floor. UConn is scoring 87.4 points per game this season, and they can beat teams in so many different ways.
Guard Tristen Newton is scoring 17.0 points per game to lead the Huskies on offense, but he is only one of many weapons. UConn is shooting better than 50 percent from the floor and they will try to score in the paint as well.
The Huskies are also an elite defensive team, and they will be trying to put some pressure on Gonzaga throughout this matchup. UConn wants to turn defense into offense to create some easy buckets.
Bulldogs Must Get Stops
Gonzaga is only allowing 65.3 points per game this season, but they have shut down some really bad teams along the way. The Bulldogs gave up 78 points to a mediocre Washington team, and that is something that must be corrected.
It has taken Gonzaga some time to figure things out on the offensive end of the floor, and there are a ton of new pieces on this team. The Bulldogs are going to try to shoot their way to a win, but that’s not always an easy thing to do.
Forward Graham Ike is leading the team with 14.2 points per game, but Gonzaga needs more offense from the guards as the season moves along.
UConn Continues to Roll
There have already been some marquee matchups in the sport of college basketball, and this is going to be another one. Gonzaga is never afraid to play a great team, but they are going to have their hands full in this game.
UConn just has so many weapons on offense, and they make life nearly impossible for their opponents to defend. Look for the Huskies to play with a ton of pace in this game as they are going to try to find some holes in the Gonzaga defense.
This game should be a battle for 40 minutes, but ultimately it will be UConn that comes up with a win to cover the spread.
