One of the final college football games on Saturday night is the New Mexico Lobos on the road at the Arizona Wildcats. The Lobos are playing their second game of the season after falling 35-31 at home to Montana State on Saturday. The Lobos are part of the Mountain West Conference and are big underdogs in this game.
For Arizona, they will play their first game under their new head coach. Jedd Fisch left the post last season, and took the job at Washington. The Wildcats won 10 games last season, and finished third in the Pac-12. They finished the season with a win over Oklahoma.
The Arizona Wildcats are huge favorites here. Arizona is -31 at home over New Mexico. The total is 58.5.
Lobos Looking to Bounce Back
In the opener, New Mexico led 31-14 after three quarters. The Lobos allowed Montana State to score three fourth quarter touchdowns to win the game. The final one came with 0:10 left on the clock.
In the game, Devon Dampier was under center for the Lobos. He finished with 172 yards passing and a touchdown. He also ran for 34 yards in the game. The top running threat for New Mexico was Eli Sanders. He finished the game with 87 yards on the ground, including over 5 yards per carry.
The rushing defense was horrible for the Lobos. They saw two guys from Montana State run for over 100 yards in the game. They allowed 362 total yards on the ground on 47 carries. The passing game was not terrible, as quarterback Tommy Mellott completed 21 of 32 passes.
Wildcats Looking to Continue Winning Ways
The Wildcats were one of the biggest surprises last season in college football. They will not surprise teams this season, but do have a new head coach. Brent Brennan brings his pro style offense to Tucson, where Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan dominated a season ago.
Those two connected 90 times for 1,402 yards and 10 touchdowns. Jacob Cowing actually led the team in receiving touchdowns with 13. He is not back for this season. Arizona will see a new running back. Jacory Croskey-Merritt should get the nod from the beginning.
Arizona will make sure they do not look ahead. They have an early season bout in Week 3 of the season against Kansas State. Those two teams are both near the top of the Big 12 rankings to start the season. Next week though, they host Northern Arizona.
Arizona Smashes New Mexico
Arizona is going to win this game, and win it easily. One thing we noticed from New Mexico last week – they are not very good defensively. They could not get stops when they needed to against Montana State, and now the Wildcats offense is going to torch them. Our final bet for this game is the Arizona Wildcats -31 over the New Mexico Lobos. Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your NCAA Football bets!
