The September 6th MLB betting free pick isn’t exactly a marquee matchup as the Texas Rangers visit the Baltimore Orioles. That doesn’t mean there isn’t value to be had however. Oddsmakers have set Baltimore as a rare favorite (BAL -135), and on paper this looks like a pitcher’s duel with an O/U that has dropped a run to 8.5.

Texas a Solid Value at +110?

It’s hard to find incentive to wager on either team in the September 6th MLB betting free pick considering the squads are a combined 68 games out of 1st place in their respective divisions. Texas is long out of the playoff picture in the AL, but they are still just 4 games under .500 on the season. The Rangers did score the win in Thursday’s series opener 3-1 and they’ve now gone 2-2 on their current road trip that started with a 7-0 win at Yankee Stadium.

The Rangers offense has been very hit – or lack thereof – or miss lately. Texas has scored 3 runs or less in 8 of the last 10 games. There’s only three Rangers batters hitting above .260 over the last week which makes Friday’s total of 8.5 look like an ‘under’ play.

Another reason to expect a low scoring game in this one is because Brock Burke goes for Texas. He’s making just his 4th career start Friday but so far so good as the lefty has allowed just 3ER total on the year (18 IP). Opponents are hitting just .203 against the youngster. That being said, Burke is dealing with a stomach virus and will have his pitch count limited vs. Baltimore.

Orioles the Play as Favorites?

Baltimore was listed at -124 on Thursday and subsequently dropped a 1-3 series opener vs. the Rangers. The O’s actually outhit Texas 10-5 in that contest but have still scored just 1 run in their last two games. Baltimore has won 6 of the last 8 at home vs. Texas and the ‘under’ has hit in 9 of the last 13 at Camden Yards.

The September 6th MLB betting free pick is the first time that the O’s will have seen Texas lefty Brock Burke. The Baltimore offense had been putting up some decent numbers with at least 4 runs scored in 6 of the last 8. The last two games though Baltimore has struggled to plate runs. The Orioles do have 10 batters hitting above .300 over the past week as well.

Dylan Bundy goes for Baltimore Friday looking to start September off on the right foot. Bundy has a 5.05 ERA at home on the season and is just 2-8 in 14 starts at Orioles Park. The Orioles are 8-20 in Bundy’s last 28 home starts. The right-hander also allowed 3ER in 5.0 IP at Texas on June 4th.
