Overview
The Atlanta Braves head into Colorado for a four game series with the Rockies. The Rockies have owned the Braves over the past few seasons winning 10 of the last 12 meetings overall and the last 6 straight played in Colorado.
Head to Head Trends
Braves are 0-6 in the last 6 meetings in Colorado.
Braves are 2-10 in the last 12 meetings.
Colorado Rockies (-160)
The Colorado Rockies are 3rd in the National League West 13.5 games back of the 1st place San Francisco Giants. The Rockies have a solid offense averaging 5.11 runs per game but their pitching staff is one of the worst in all of baseball allowing 5.31 runs per game although to be fair both numbers are a little inflated due to playing in Coors Field.
On the hill for the Rockies tonight is Chad Bettis who is 7-6 with a 5.55 ERA on the season. Bettis has had a few decent starts but he’s been pretty bad for the most part. One thing I find interesting about Bettis is he’s only allowed 4 homeruns at home this season but 10 away from home which is kind of odd considering Coors Field is the best hitters park in the League.
Colorado Rockies Trends
Rockies are 6-1 in Bettis’ last 7 starts.
Rockies are 5-1 in their last 6 games following a loss.
Atlanta Braves (+150)
The Atlanta Braves are last in the National League East 24 games back of the 1st place Washington Nationals. The Braves are the worst team in the majors at just 33-62 on the season mostly due to a very poor offense who are averaging just 3.40 runs per game but their pitching isn’t all that great either allowing 4.71 runs per game.
Starting for the Braves in this one is Mike Foltynewicz who is 4-6 with a 3.70 ERA in 10 starts this season. Foltynewicz has had a couple super starts and he’s had a couple poor starts but he’s looked fairly impressive for the most part. The one thing I don’t like Foltynewicz apart from having a hard name to spell is he’s allowed 11 homeruns in just 56 innings of work so he might in for a rough game tonight.
Atlanta Braves Trends
Braves are 2-9 in Foltynewiczs last 11 road starts.
Braves are 25-57 in their last 82 road games.
Conclusion
I like the Colorado Rockies over the Braves in this one. I think the Braves might have the starting pitching advantage although I don’t really expect Foltynewicz to have a great game. I think the Rockies have a lot more firepower on offense and that will be the difference in the game.
