Head to Head Trends
White Sox are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings.
Home team is 5-2 in Estabrooks last 7 games behind home plate.
Texas Rangers (+120)
The Texas Rangers are 3rd in the American League West 5.5 games behind the 1st place Houston Astros. The Rangers got off to a fairly slow start this season but they have been on of the hotter teams in the league over the past few weeks winning 11 of their last 13 games. The Rangers have been getting some decent pitching of late but it’s been the bats doing most of the damage hitting .300 and averaging 7.20 runs per game over their last 10 games.
On the hill for the Rangers today is Nicholas Martinez who is 4-1 with a 2.03 ERA on the season. Martinez has pitched great so far this season not allowing more then 3 runs in a start and if it wasn’t for the bullpen blowing leads he could easily be 8-1 or 9-1 right now.
Texas Rangers Trends
Rangers are 4-0 in their last 4 overall.
Rangers are 8-2 in Martinezs last 10 starts.
Chicago White Sox (-130)
The Chicago White Sox are last in the American league Central 7 games back of the 1st place Minnesota Twins. The Sox haven’t really done a much so far this season they did have a nice little hot stretch a few weeks back that saw them win 8 of 9 games but they’ve been pretty bad for most of the season especially on the road where they are just 11-17.
Taking the mound for the White Sox in this one is lefty Chris Sale who is 4-2 with a 3.66 ERA on the season. Sale had a couple back to back rough outings in late April and Early May but apart from that he’s been pretty hard to hit.
Chicago White Sox Trends
White Sox are 35-85 in their last 120 road games vs. a team with a winning record.
White Sox are 4-12 in Sales last 16 starts after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.
Conclusion
I’m going with the Texas Rangers over the White Sox in this one. The White Sox being favored by the oddsmakers is clearly based on the fact that Chris Sale is pitching but Rangers starter Nicholas Martinez has pitched equally good this season so I don’t see the Sox having a huge edge here.
