Head to Head Trends
Giants are 6-14 in the last 20 meetings.
Under is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings.
Arizona Diamondbacks (-105)
The Arizona Diamondbacks are 3rd in the National League West with a 17-19 record just a half game back of both the LA Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. The Diamondbacks are playing well right now especially their offense who are batting .299 and averaging 6.20 runs per game over their last 5.
On the hill for the Diamondbacks today is Zack Greinke who is 3-2 with a 5.15 ERA on the season. Greinke might not have the best ERA but 4 of his last 5 starts have been good quality starts. Greinke has also owned the Giants over the last few seasons winning 9 of his last 10 starts versus the Giants while allowing 2 runs in less in 9 of those games.
Arizona Diamondbacks Trends
Diamondbacks are 5-1 in their last 6 overall.
Diamondbacks are 4-1 in Greinkes last 5 starts.
San Francisco Giants (-105)
The San Francisco Giants are 1st in the National League West with an 18-18 record. I don’t know how the Giants are in 1st place because their offense is absolutely pathetic. Over their last 5 games the Giants are batting .191 while averaging just 1.60 runs per game and that’s with the Jays giving them 4 runs yesterday off bad defense and walking in the game winning run.
Starting for the Giants in this one is Johnny Cueto who is 4-1 with a 3.02 ERA on the season. For some reason I have no faith in Cueto he’s either really good or really bad and it seems like any time he’s really bad is when I have money on him so I try to avoid him as much as possible now.
San Francisco Giants Trends
Giants are 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a right-handed starter.
Giants are 6-1 in Cuetos last 7 starts.
Conclusion
I like the Arizona Diamondbacks over the Giants in this one. I think the starting pitching matchup is fairly even so I’m going with offense here and the Diamondbacks have the much better offense of the two.
