Overview
The Toronto Blue Jays Finish up their west coast swing when they take on the Angels today in the 3rd game of their three game series. The Angels won the first game 5-2 while knuckleballer R.A. Dickey pitched 7 shutout innings on the way to a 4-0 Jays win in game two. The Blue Jays haven’t feared all that well against the Angels lately as they have lost 11 of the last 14 meetings.
Head to Head Trends
Blue Jays are 3-11 in the last 14 meetings.
Over is 5-0 in Wilsons last 5 starts vs. Blue Jays.
Los Angeles Angels (-152)
The LA Angels are 2nd in the American League West 4.5 games back of the 1st place Oakland Athletics. The Athletics have the best record in all of baseball at 57-33 while the Angels actually have the 2nd best record in all of baseball at 52-37 so it kind of sucks for the Angels that they’re in the same division with the only other team with a better record. The Angles have been quietly playing some great baseball over the past few weeks winning 14 of their last 18 games and with Oakland playing so well all season it seems like everyone forgot about the Angels but they’re coming and coming fast in the West. Starting for the Angels is lefty C.J Wilson who is 8-6 with a 4.23 ERA in his 18 starts this season.
LA Angels Trends
Angels have won 14 of their last 18 overall.
Angels are 38-18 in their last 56 home games.
Angels are 5-0 in Wilsons last 5 home starts.
Toronto Blue Jays (+142)
The Toronto Blue Jays are now in 2nd in the American League East 2.5 games back of the Baltimore Orioles. Back in May the Blue Jays were the hottest team in baseball winning 20 of 27 games and were hitting homeruns left right and center but those days are long gone as the once red hot bats have now turned ice cold and they have lost 20 of their last 30 games. Starting for the Blue Jays is rookie Marcus Stroman who has been quite impressive since joining the starting rotation back in May. Since joining the rotation Stroman is 3-2 with a 2.29 ERA in 7 starts.
Toronto Blue Jays Trends
Blue Jays are 1-4 in Stromans last 5 starts.
Blue Jays are 1-7 in their last 8 games vs. a left-handed starter.
Blue Jays are 1-7 in their last 8 road games.
Conclusion
I’m going to ride the hot team and take the LA Angles to win. The Angles are playing great baseball right now winning 14 of their last 18 games while the Blue Jays bats have gone silent and they just don’t have good enough pitching to win when they’re not getting a lot of run support.
