The Bronx Bombers reincarnate are on full display so far heading into Saturday’s May 14th Yankees at White Sox betting preview. New York has collected a 15-7 and a 10-4 win so far this weekend to stretch their winning streak to five games. The Yankees are -160 favorites in game three of the series.
Chicago has some major pitching concerns coming into Saturday’s matchup as +140 underdogs. Only 17% of the betting public likes the White Sox in this matchup and they definitely do look in trouble. Is the -160 price tag actually a steal on the Yankees, who were +134 and -189 the first two of this series?
Does New York Power Surge Continue?
Yankees bats are having quite the weekend at Guaranteed Rate Field, hitting 4 HRs each on Friday and Saturday. Giancarlo Stanton has already belted out 3 HRs off Sox pitching, with Aaron Judge and Josh Donaldson also both going deep in each of the first two games. Joey Gallo also added a long ball in Friday night’s win.
Stanton has 8 RBI through the first two games of the series while Donaldson has added 6 knocked in. There’s a good chance the Yankees offensive success continues on Saturday with Chicago starter Dallas Keuchel struggling to find consistency this season. The Yankees are up to #3 in the majors in runs/game (5.00) and lead in OPS (.755) and HRs (48) while pushing their lead to 4.5 games in the AL East.
Gerrit Cole pitched into the 7th on Friday night to pick up the win, a feat Jordan Montgomery (0-1, 2.90 ERA) hopes to continue in the May 14th Yankees at White Sox betting matchup. Montgomery’s only loss of the season came when giving up just 1 ER over 6.0 IP to the Tigers and he’s picked up 5 ND’s despite allowing 2 ER or less in 4 of those. The lefty would love some run support.
Keuchel Tries to Step Up
Keuchel (2-3, 6.86 ERA) tries to keep the Yankees offense at bay when he takes the mound on Saturday night. The left-hander has been solid at times this year, including last time out giving up just 2 ER over 6.0 IP in a 3-2 win in Boston. Keuchel has also allowed 7ER in just 1.0 IP in a loss to Cleveland and gave up 4 ER in 5.0 IP against the Angels on May 1st.
Stanton is 4-9 (.444) with 2 HRs in his career vs. Keuchel while Judge is 4-11 (.364) vs. the Chicago starter. Keuchel gave up just 1 ER over 4.0 IP in his only start vs. the Yankees last season. Dylan Cease went 4.0 IP on Thursday and Vince Velasquez went 5.0 IP on Friday so Chicago’s bullpen could use a long start from Keuchel in this meeting to recover a bit.
Josh Harrison is 4-6 in his career vs. New York’s Montgomery, but Chicago as a whole is 11-40 (.211) vs. the left-hander.
Free May 14th Yankees at White Sox Betting Pick
New York’s bats have been clicking the last two games, so can Keuchel step up and slow down this force? Keuchel has been inconsistent and it’s possible that he has a solid outing on Saturday night, but Montgomery has been the more stable starter and the Yankees have the offense with momentum.
Free Pick: Yankees -1.5 (-105)
