The August 14th Twins at Angels betting matchup is getaway day for Minnesota, who so far is 1-3 on their trip to the West Coast to face the Dodgers and LAA. The Twins have lost their grasp on 1st place in the Central during this road stretch, currently 1.5 back from the Guardians in the AL Central.
Los Angeles picked up a late win on Saturday night when Taylor Ward hit a 2-run walkoff in the bottom of the 11th to put the Angels up 5-3, cashing in at -101. The Twins came out on top 4-0 in Friday’s opener at -131, and Minnesota is -126 in the finale.
Twins Could be Looking To Get Back Home
Minnesota doesn’t have many road trips this month, so it’s been a nice week on the West Coast. Carlos Correa took his family to Disneyland on Thursday’s off day but the team would also like to pick up one more win as they grind out 13 of their next 16 games at home.
The Twins have done a nice job avoiding losing streaks, going 5-2 in their last 7 after a loss although both of those defeats have come in the past week. Correa had a HR in Saturday’s loss and the Twins have outhit the Angels 19-12 this series, so they’ve arguably been the better team but have only managed a split through two games.
Chris Archer (2-5, 4.02 ERA starts in the August 14th Twins at Angels betting matchup, trying to stay trending in the right direction after allowing just 2 ER in each of his last 2 starts. Archer is only going to give 5.0 IP max, and the Twins used five relievers in Saturday’s extra inning game. Archer is 0-2 with a 3.96 ERA on the road this season.
Angels Quietly Playing Well
LAA is 7-5 in August, not bad for a team that was 6-18 in the month of July. With Saturday’s win the Angels have now won four of their last five and have some real value at +112 with Archer going having a pitch count and Minnesota using up some bullpen arms in Saturday’s loss.
Aside from Ward’s game winner, Shohei Ohtani also went deep in game two. Los Angeles managed just 4 hits in Friday’s loss and also have limited experience against Archer with just 20 combined team ABs. David Fletcher and Andrew Velazquez are the only two LAA batters hitting above .270 over the past week.
Tucker Davidson had a rough debut with the Angels last Sunday, giving up 6ER over 4.0 IP in a 6-3 loss to Seattle. Davidson came over from the Braves at the trade deadline, and was 1-2 with a 6.43 ERA with Atlanta earlier in the season.
Free August 14th Twins at Angels Betting Pick
Los Angeles has been playing well lately but they are a rough wager with Davidson on the mound Sunday. At the same time the Twins could be looking forward to getting back home for a long stretch after a trip to the West Coast. Over 90% of the betting public is on Minnesota.
The first two games of this series have been low scoring, but with Archer being capped at 5.0 IP and Davidson having started just one game in the majors since the end of May the offenses should have the advantage here.
