New York and Minnesota continue their weekday series on Tuesday in the April 25th Yankees at Twins betting matchup. The gang from the Twin Cities took the opener 6-1 on Monday night as -155 favorites behind another dazzling performance from Sonny Gray, but their number is down to -120 for game two.
The Yankees would seem to have some value at +100 even though they have now dropped to 2-3 on the season against Minnesota. Monday’s game went under the 8.5 total, but oddsmakers are expecting even more of a pitcher’s duel on Tuesday with an O/U of just 6.5.
Why the Yankees Have Value at +100
The New York offense looked stagnant on Monday night, managing just 3 hits against Gray but that’s not unexpected vs. the Twins ace who has dropped his ERA to 0.62 on the season. Things don’t get a whole lot easier in the April 25th Yankees at Twins betting matchup as Minnesota starter Joe Ryan has started the year undefeated, but anybody is a bit easier to face than the dialed in Gray right now.
New York has struggled at the plate, being held to 3 runs or less in six of their last seven but the good news is that it may not take a whole lot of scoring to get the win in this projected low scoring matchup with a total of just 6.5. The Yankees had also been playing well on the road, winning four of five away games prior to Monday’s loss.
Obviously part of Tuesday’s total has to do with Ryan being 4-0 for Minnesota already, but Yankees starter Nestor Cortes, has been no slouch going 3-0 with a 3.09 ERA. Cortes has faced the Twins once in 2023, going 7.0 IP while allowing just 2 ER.
Why the Twins Have Value at -120
The Twins looked very good in the series opener, getting a 3-hit game at the top of the lineup from Max Kepler, getting 3 RBI from Jorge Polanco, and with Joey Gallo continuing his resurgence with his 6th HR of the season.
A couple of the Twins most complete games in 2023 have come against the Yankees, with Monday’s victory not being quite as impressive as their 11-2 win on April 13th in the Bronx when Minnesota plated 9 runs in the 1st inning. They only managed 2 ER against Cortes on April 14th (both HRs) but did pick up a 4-3 win in the process.
Ryan looks to go 5-0 with a win on Tuesday night. He’s got a couple of 10 K games on his resume so far this season but he’s also been the benefactor of some insane run support as the Twins are averaging over 9 runs/game in his four starts. Ryan was on the bump in the Twins 11-2 win on April 13th and would love even half of that offensive output on Tuesday.
Free April 25th Yankees at Twins Betting Pick
The Twins have played well against the Yankees this season, and Monday’s matchup seems like it will be a lower scoring affair. The New York offense has been struggling, but in this game that is essentially a toss-up you take the better price.
