MLB Wednesday June 1st Brewers at Cubs Betting Preview
Great Value on Milwaukee Here
Milwaukee is just 5-4 against Chicago this season, but have to have some value in the June 1st Brewers at Cubs betting matchup as just -115 road favorites. Chicago was swept in a Memorial Day double header on Monday, but got in the win column on Tuesday night with an 8-7 win as +116 underdogs.
This was supposed to be Brandon Woodruff’s turn in the rotation, but he’s headed to the IL with an ankle sprain. That opens the door for Jason Alexander to make his MLB debut, which one would think favors the Cubs but that’s not necessarily the case with the way Kyle Hendricks has struggled recently. Milwaukee is a -115 favorite in the series finale, with Chicago at -105.
Brewers Offense Set for Big Night?
It’s not too often a team scores 7 runs and loses, but that’s what happened to Milwaukee on Tuesday night in the 8-7 defeat as -126 favorites. Starter Eric Lauer could only go 4.0 IP as he got in trouble in nearly every frame, while the vaunted Brewers bullpen gave up 5 ER.
Despite the loss it was another solid night at the plate for Milwaukee on Tuesday, as the team scored 7+ runs for the third time in the last four games. Both Brewers catchers are hot, with Victor Caratini and Omar Narvaez combining to go 13 for their last 25 with 6 XB hits. Milwaukee actually hits.385 as a team vs. Hendricks.
Milwaukee’s Jason Alexander will make his MLB debut in the June 1st Brewers at Cubs betting matchup after going 6-2 with a 2.64 ERA in Triple-A. The 29-year-old went undrafted in 2017, spending time in the Angels and Marlins organizations.
Cubs Go For the Split
Chicago can pull to 5-5 against the Brewers this season with a win on Wednesday night, which would already be better than their 4-15 head to head mark last season. The Cubs are still just 2-5 in their last 7 overall, and are a mere 8-17 at Wrigley Field on the season.
Chicago belted out 12 hits in Tuesday night’s win and got another big game from Patrick Wisdom who was 2-4 with a HR – his 8th in the month of May. Willson Contreras also went deep for the second straight game while Christopher Morel extended his hit streak to 11 games. Nobody on the Cubs roster has ever faced Alexander obviously, as he is making his first career MLB start.
The enigma that is Hendricks (2-5, 5.20 ERA) is in action again on Wednesday night. He can be great (1 ER total allowed over 14.1 IP in two starts against the Padres and Diamondbacks) or terrible (7ER allowed against Arizona last time out) on any given start. Hendricks has a 6.52 ERA in two starts vs. Milwaukee this season and had a 6.14 ERA vs. the Brewers in 2021.
Free June 1st Brewers at Cubs Betting Pick
We don’t know what we’ll get from Alexander on the mound for Milwaukee in his MLB debut – or from the inconsistent Hendricks for that matter. When that’s the case, the Brewers as the first place team in the NL Central (32-19) have the value over 20-29 Chicago.
Free Pick: Brewers -115
