There has been little to cheer about as a South Side baseball fan this season, one is the milk shake at Guaranteed Rate Field and one of the few others has been the pitching of Erick Fedde, who is on the mound in the June 26th Dodgers at White Sox betting matchup. The hometown crowd should get a good show on Wednesday – if anything just because Shohei Ohtani is in town with L.A.
The Dodgers aim for the series sweep after taking the first two games 3-0 and 4-3 as -109 and -211 favorites respectively. Los Angeles has another lofty price tag in the finale at -186, but that still seems worth the risk in this very lopsided matchup.
Why the Dodgers Have Value on Wednesday
Los Angeles (50-31) seems like they could have one of their worst games of the season on Wednesday and still breeze to a win over the 21-60 White Sox. Los Angeles has an off day Thursday to travel back to the West Coast and sport a 25-15 road record against a Chicago squad that is 13-27 at home on the year.
The Dodgers haven’t exactly torn things up on offense scoring a combined 7 runs the last two games, but that’s still been good enough for wins in each contest. Ohtani had an RBI in Monday’s 3-0 win, and added a leadoff home run and 2 RBI in Tuesday’s victory. Freddie Freeman also added a HR in game two which has been more than enough offense against a Chicago team that has been held to 3 runs or less in seven of their last eight.
Gavin Stone (8-2, 3.04 ERA) looks to pitch Los Angeles to the sweep as he gets the start on Wednesday night on the South Side. Stone is 5-1 with a 2.91 ERA on the road this season compared to 3-1 with a 3.13 ERA at home so he’s been good wherever he’s pitched in 2024. Stone has allowed just 7 ER in 23.0 IP in June so there’s no reason he shouldn’t dominate a Chicago offense that is last in the majors in runs (3.04), BA (.219), and OPS (.623).
Why the White Sox Have Value on Wednesday
Few people would have been surprised if the 1st place Dodgers would have taken the first two games of the series by scores like 9-0 or 8-1, so the last place White Sox losing 3-0 and 4-3 isn’t too horrible by their standards. Chicago actually outhit L.A. 8-7 in Tuesday’s loss so they aren’t far off from an upset win.
87% of the betting public is on the Dodgers in the series finale, and when that big of a majority is on one side it’s an automatic fade for a most bettors. Even with all that money on L.A., the White Sox underdog line has dropped from +165 to +156. Los Angeles is undoubtedly the more talented team – by a longshot – by they are in the middle of a weird scheduling snafu where they had two home games vs. the Angels, an off day, then a trip to Chicago for a three game road trip before they head to San Francisco. Humans are humans, and that travel itinerary could catch up with the Dodgers.
Free June 26th Dodgers at White Sox Betting Pick
It’s doesn’t take a baseball savant to say the Dodgers win this game, but there is enough out there to take a chance on the White Sox here. Fedde has been great this season and six of his last seven starts have been on the road – with his last home outing being a shutout against Baltimore. The Dodgers have done a lot of traveling this week and their offense has kind of reflected that over the last two games.
