Rockies and Brewers – MLB Pick of the Day
The Colorado Rockies head back home to Coors Field where they start a three game series with the Milwaukee Brewers. These teams have yet to meet this season but last season they played six games with the Rockies winning 4 of those games. The Rockies have won 10 of the last 13 meetings overall plus 14 of the last 19 at Coors Field. It has also been a high scoring affair when these two teams hook up going over the total in their last 9 straight meetings.
Rockies vs Brewers – Head to Head Trends
Over is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings in Colorado.
Over is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings.
The Colorado Rookies are 3rd in the NL West 9 games back of the San Francisco Giants. Even though the Rockies are 4 games under .500 on the season they actually play very well at home where they have a 19-14 record. The Rockies are the highest scoring team in the National League averaging just under 5 runs per game. This is obviously in large part to playing their home games in the thin air of Denver where they are averaging 6.35 runs per game. The 6.35 runs per game is inflated due to playing in Denver no doubt but they only allow 5.26 runs per game at home so those 6 plus runs per game of offense is more then just thin air. Starting for the Rockies is rookie Christian Bergman who is 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA in two starts this season.
Colorado Rockies Trends
Over is 6-1-2 in Rockies last 9 overall.
Over is 19-9 in Rockies last 28 games as a home favorite.
The Milwaukee Brewers are 1st in the NL Central 4.5 games up on the St Louis Cardinals. The Brewers have the 3rd best offense in the National League averaging 4.36 runs per game. The Brewers pitching is kind of middle of the road, they allow 3.99 runs per game which puts them below average in the NL. Starting for the Brewers is Marco Estrada who is 5-4 with a 4.82 ERA on the season. Estrada has struggled of late, in his last 3 starts he was 0-2 with an ERA close to 8. Another thing to keep an eye on with Estrada is that he has allowed 23 homeruns this season so combine that with playing in Coors Field and it may get ugly fast.
Milwaukee Brewers Trends
Over is 5-0 in Estradas last 5 starts overall.
Over is 16-7-1 in Brewers last 24 overall.
I don’t bet totals very often but in this situation it just makes sense to bet the over. We have two of the top three offensive teams in the National League playing in Denver and we have a rookie pitcher who is making just his 3rd start in the Majors versus a guy that gives up a ton of home runs so I can see a few runs being scored tonight
