Phoenix Suns vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Preview
The 2024 NBA Playoffs are currently taking place, and there is a full slate of playoff action on the schedule on Tuesday night. One of the best games of the day will take place in the Western Conference as the Phoenix Suns are set to visit the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Phoenix finished the regular season as the number six seed in the Western Conference as they ended the year at 49-33. The Suns are looking to steal home court advantage by winning Game 2, but they struggled in the series opener.
Minnesota was in the battle for the top seed in the Western Conference until the final game of the season, but had to settle for the number three seed. The Timberwolves looked the part in the series opener as they won by a score of 120-95.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are 3.5-point betting favorites in Game 2 of this series, and the over/under line is set at 213.5 total points.
Suns Must Make Shots
The Phoenix Suns only managed to score 95 points in the series opener, and this team will need to make shots to win this game. Phoenix made just nine three-pointers in the Game 1 loss, and that’s not good enough to get the job done.
Kevin Durant did have a big game in the series opener, but he didn’t get a ton of help from the rest of his teammates. Durant poured in 31 points in the Game 1 loss, but no other player scored more than 18 points.
The Suns are not a team that is going to win a game on the defensive end of the floor, and it’s going to be up to their offense to set the tone in this matchup.
Timberwolves Can Get Stops
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been winning games in a variety of ways this season, and they proved that to begin the series. Minnesota held the Suns to 44 percent shooting in that win, and that’s going to be a big focus moving forward.
Anthony Edwards took awhile to get going in the first game of the series, but he ultimately finished with 33 points. The Timberwolves got over 40 points from the bench in Game 1 as well, and their depth is going to be a big key.
Minnesota will have a huge home crowd behind them again in Game 2 of the series, and they will look to ride the wave of momentum to another win.
Timberwolves Take Complete Control
Game 1 of this series got away from the Phoenix Suns in a hurry, and they will be trying to keep this game much closer than that. The Suns should respond on offense in this matchup, but they are going to struggle to slow down Minnesota.
Anthony Edwards will continue to be a problem for the Suns and he will set the tone yet again for the Timberwolves. This team knows that it must take control of the action on their home floor, and that’s exactly what they will do.
Bet on the Minnesota Timberwolves to win this game and cover the 3.5-point betting spread that is out there.
