NFL Pick: Seattle Seahawks at Philadelphia Eagles

Mark Sanchez QBOverview

The Seattle Seahawks head over to the east coast Sunday when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The last time these two teams met was back in 2011 when the Seahawks spanked the Eagles 31-14. The Seahawks have won 3 of the last 4 meetings straight up versus the Eagles and they also covered the spread in 3 of the 4 games as well.

Head to Head Trends

Road team is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

Philadelphia Eagles (-1)

The Philadelphia Eagles are 1st in the NFC East with a 9-3 record just a half game ahead of the 2nd place Dallas Cowboys. The Eagle have played well this season their 3 losses came at San Francisco, at Arizona, and at Green Bay all of which are top teams so really can’t fault the Eagles for either of those losses. The Eagles have one of the best offenses in the league averaging 416 yards and 31.2 points per game but they also have a below average defense allowing 366 yards and 23.8 points per game. The Eagles offensive and defensive numbers are both a little inflated due to the their style of play so their offense probably isn’t as good as the numbers would suggest but their defense is also probably better then the numbers would suggest.

Philadelphia Eagles Trends

Eagles are 5-13-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
Eagles are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games in December.

Seattle Seahawks (+1)

The Seattle Seahawks are 2nd in the NFC West with an 8-4 record just a game back of the 1st place Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks got off to a slow start this season winning just 3 of their first 6 games and they were looking like just another average team but they have really picked up their game of late winning 5 of their last 6 games including back to back 19-3 wins over the past 2 weeks against the Cardinals and 49ers. The Seahawks are averaging 361 yards and 24.8 points per game on offense and on defense they are allowing just 285 yards and 18.4 points per game.

Seattle Seahawks Trends

Seahawks are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games in December.
Seahawks are 19-7 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Conclusion

Even though the Eagles have been very impressive so far this season I have to go with the Seahawks in this one. The Seahawks seem to be peaking right now and the Eagles are also playing good right now it’s just that I don’t like Mark Sanchez as a starting QB and I think he’s due for a bad game today.
