NFL Week 10 Lions at Chargers Betting Preview
Detroit Heads West on Sunday Afternoon
Fresh off their bye week, Detroit heads to the West Coast trying to stay hot in the Lions at Chargers betting matchup. Dan Campbell’s club has won five of their last six and aims to keep playing solid football against a Los Angeles team that has won two straight primetime matchups by a combined score of 57-19.
The Chargers have beaten Chicago 30-13 and the Jets 27-6 on Sunday night and Monday night respectively the last two weeks, getting back to .500 (4-4) on the season. L.A. has momentum, but are still +2.5 point home underdogs on Sunday afternoon with over 3/4 of the betting public liking the Lions in this spot.
Why Detroit Has Value at -2.5
The Lions head to the West Coast which is always tough, but that gets a bit easier coming off their bye last week. Detroit laid their biggest egg of the season in their last road game, a 36-8 loss in Baltimore, but overall have gone 3-1 away from Ford Field this year.
The Chargers have held their last two opponents to a combined 19 points, but Detroit’s offense is on another stratosphere compared to the Bears and Jets. The Lions have the #2 total offense in the NFL (390.6) and get some reinforcements back with David Montgomery making his return after missing two games.
Los Angeles has a very good offense, but Detroit may have figured out how to use dynamic rookie Jahmyr Gibbs last game as he had 152 yards on the ground and another 37 through the air. Amon-Ra St. Brown also has three straight 100+ yard receiving games while rookie TE Sam LaPorta already looks like one of the top five at his position in the NFL.
Why the Chargers Have Value at +2.5
With 77% of public betting on the Lions and the line only moving 1/2 a point from the DET -2 open. With Detroit looking like such an easy play, you can make a wager just on the point spread alone in this game which is what smart bettors do all the time.
Detroit is coming off their bye, but that may have also killed the momentum gained from five wins in their last six games. The Lions’ victories over that span have also come against Atlanta, Green Bay, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Las Vegas which are all sub .500 teams this year.
While the Lions’ momentum may have stalled, the Chargers have won two straight primetime games in impressive fashion. LAC played a very good Jets defense on Monday night and managed to put up 27 points on the road.

With so much public action on the Lions and the line only moving 1/2 a point, Detroit is out as a play here. The Chargers are also on the short week though after a bruising battle with the Jets on Monday night. The total seems to be the way to go in this spot, and with the Lions coming off a bye but LAC also dialed in on offense make the play on the over.
