From Sao Paulo, Corinthians Arena will host the first Friday Night Football game of the 2024 season. The Green Bay Packers are on the road at the Philadelphia Eagles. The Packers and Eagles are both looking to start strong, as contenders in their respective divisions.
The Packers went 2-1 during preseason play. Green Bay beat the Browns and Ravens, while losing their middle game on the road at the Broncos. Last season, Green Bay went 9-8, including winning their final three games. The Packers then beat the Cowboys in the postseason, and competed until the end, but fell short against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Philadelphia Eagles also went 2-1 during the preseason. They beat the Ravens and Patriots, and then fell to the Vikings. Philadelphia made the postseason last season as well. The Eagles went 11-6, and finished second to the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional race. Philadelphia was beaten in the first round of the postseason, moving the losing streak to three in a row to end the season.
In this game, the Eagles are favorites over the Packers. Philadelphia is listed at -2.5 over Green Bay. The total comes in at 48.5 points.
Love led Packers
Jordan Love is in his second season as the starting quarterback for the Packers. Love tossed for nearly 4,200 yards a season ago, with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. His top target was Jayden Reed. Reed finished with 793 yards.
Aaron Jones is home. He went to Minnesota. It is Josh Jacobs, the former Las Vegas Raiders running back as the projected start. Jones was hurt for parts of last season, and finished with just 656 yards on the ground. Jacobs won the rushing title back in 2022.
Green Bay comes home to host the Indianapolis Colts in Week two. The Packers then go on the road to Nashville to battle the Titans on September 22nd.
Hurts led Eagles
On the Philadelphia side, it is a big season for Nick Siriani, the head coach. The Eagles struggled down the stretch, and the head coach was in hot water late in the season. The Eagles will use Jalen Hurts under center once again. He tossed for nearly 3,900 yards a season ago.
AJ Brown was his top target. Brown finished the 2023 season with 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns. DeVonta Smith also had 7 touchdowns for Philadelphia. The run game got a boost with Saquan Barkley coming over from the Giants. Hurts led the team with 15 of the 22 rushing touchdowns a season ago.
The Eagles will come home and host the Atlanta Falcons following this. The next two games are then on the road at the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Eagles Top Packers
