Sunday is Week One of the National Football League.  It is also the battle of Florida, as the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the road at the Miami Dolphins. The Jacksonville Jaguars went 3-0 in preseason play. Jacksonville beat the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta Falcons. During the regular season last year, Jacksonville went 9-8, and finished tied with the Colts for second in the AFC South.

The Miami Dolphins went 2-1 during the preseason. They beat the Falcons and Commanders to start the preseason and then lost on the road at Tampa Bay. Miami went 11-6, and tied with Buffalo at the top of the AFC East. The Bills won the division due to beating Miami twice during the regular season. The Dolphins then lost in the first round of the postseason.

The Miami Dolphins are -3.5 in this game at home. The total for the affair is listed at 48.5.

Jaguars Looking to Break Out

The Jaguars paid Trevor Lawrence in the off-season, and they are hoping it will pay off long-term. The signal caller completed 65.6% of his passes for more than 4,000 yards last season. He threw 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. The big stat was he was sacked 35 times in 2024.

His top target was Calvin Ridley. Ridley is no longer with the team. Instead, Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis, and newcomer Brain Thomas Jr. are in the mix. Evan Engram remains as the tight end for the Jaguars.

At running back Travis Etienne is set for a monster season. Last season, he just went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark. He finished with 11 touchdowns and did lose a fumble all season long. The Jaguars will play their first home game in Week Two. They will host the Cleveland Browns.

Home Miami Dolphins

Last season the Dolphins were one of the best offensive teams in the National Football League. Their quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played all 17 games and completed 388 passes for 4,624 yards. He had 29 touchdowns on the season as well.

His top target, Tyreek Hill led the league in receiving yards. He had more than 1,790 on the season. Hill also led the team with 13 touchdowns. Jaylen Waddle was next with 4 on the season. The run game had the duo of Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane. They combined for 1,800 yards and 26 touchdowns.

The Miami Dolphins will face the Buffalo Bills in Week Two. That is a huge divisional game early in the season. That game will take place on Thursday Night.
