Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview
Saturday in the National Football League will feature a preseason game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is the first preseason game for both teams, as they get ready for the 2024 season.
The Kansas City Chiefs are back to back Super Bowl champions. The Chiefs are the favorite to win the title again this season. Kansas City went 11-6 a season ago, which won the AFC West. The Chiefs were not the top seed in the AFC, but went to Baltimore and beat the Ravens to reach the Super Bowl. Of course, Kansas City then won that game over San Francisco.
For the Jacksonville Jaguars, they went 9-8, and missed out on the postseason a season ago. The Jaguars lost their final game of the season, which kept them in a tie with the Colts for second in the AFC South. The Jaguars are second in terms of odds this season behind Houston to win the division.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are the favorites in this game. Jacksonville is -3 at home over Kansas City.
Legendary status in Kansas City
When the talks begin with the Kansas City Chiefs, the three names are Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and head coach Andy Reid. They are all back, and all ready to keep winning. Mahomes and Kelce saw their numbers decline together a bit during the regular season, but when push came to shove, they got the job done.
Xavier Worthy was a solid pick for the Chiefs in the first round of the draft. The former Texas receiver appears to be getting looks as one of the choices to start day one. Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown, Justin Watson, Kardarius Toney and Mecole Hardman are other options. Backing up Kelce is once again Noah Gray.
The running game remains the same in Kansas City as well. It’s Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire guiding the way. Those two are vital for this offense to be able to open up the pass for Mahomes.
Jaguars looking to make move
The talk for the Jacksonville Jaguars was the choice to extend quarterback Trevor Lawrence for another season under center. Lawrence received a new weapon to toss it to. Brian Thomas Jr. an elite receiver out of LSU was the 23rd overall pick in the draft. He will give Lawrence good size and speed.
The run game will look similar as well for the Jaguars. Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne are both back for the squad. Etienne will get the most carries, if he stays healthy. The receiving core added Gabe Davis to the mix, to go along with Thomas and Christian Kirk.
Evan Engram remains the tight end for the Jaguars, with Luke Farrell backing him up. Jacksonville will open the 2024 regular season on September 8th on the road at state rival Miami.
