The Los Angeles Rams are on the road at the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football to finish the first Sunday of the National Football League. Donald less Rams
The identity of the Los Angeles Rams over the last couple of seasons has been with defensive star Aaron Donald. He is now retired, and the Rams are looking to turn that page. Los Angeles will turn to Jared Verse, the rookie out of Florida State to help fill the void. They also took Braden Fiske, a defensive tackle from Florida State.
The Rams on offense threw for 239 yards and rushed for 120.3 last season. Matthew Stafford is back under center for Los Angeles. He was just 35 yards shy of 4,000 a season ago and missed two games. His top target was Puka Nacua, with 14,86 yards.
Kyren Williams was strong down the stretch for the Rams. The running back carried it 228 times for 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns. Cooper Kupp is looking for a big bounce-back season. He missed five games a season ago.
Goff Led Lions
Jared Goff had a fantastic season a year ago under center for Detroit. He tossed for nearly 4,600 yards and 30 touchdowns. Goff had just 12 interceptions and played all 17 games. His top target was Amon-Ra St. Brown. He finished with 1,515 yards receiving in 2024.
Sam LaPorta had a monster rookie season for the Lions as well. He played all 17 games and finished with 899 yards and 10 touchdowns. Josh Reynolds was next for the Lions with 608 receiving yards. Reynolds has moved on, which gives Jameson Williams an opportunity in that position.
The Lions’ run game will remain in the legs of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. The veteran, Montgomery led the team with 1,015 yards and 13 touchdowns. Gibbs was not too far behind with 945 yards and 10 touchdowns. Montgomery got 37 more carries on the season.
Rams Stun Lions
