Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions Betting Preview – Week 2

A pair of teams seeking to start the season 2-0 will get together on Sunday in Detroit. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the road at the Detroit Lions. Tampa Bay got off to a great start this season as they smoked the Washington Commanders in Week 1. The Buccaneers are one of two teams in the NFC South that won their opener.

The Detroit Lions needed overtime but grabbed the win at home over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. The Lions are coming off a season last year where they reached the NFC title game.

The Detroit Lions are -7 in this game over Tampa Bay. The total for the affair sits at 51.5 points.

Baker Led Bucs

The Tampa Bay offense scored 37 points in the win over Washington. Baker Mayfield was great, with four passing touchdowns in the game. The Buccaneers signal-caller finished the game with 289 yards and four passing touchdowns.

Mike Evans caught two touchdown passes in the win. Rachaad White was the top guy on the ground for Tampa, but he struggled. He finished with just 31 yards on 15 carries. The Buccaneers finished with 401 yards in the game, the 7th most in Week One of the season.

Tampa Bay will play this game, and then head home for the final two games of September. The Buccaneers will host the Broncos in Week Three and the Eagles in Week Four.

Home Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions tied the game late on Sunday Night and then used overtime to win the game. Head coach Dan Campbell elected to run the ball every time in overtime. Eventually, the Lions won the game with a David Montgomery touchdown.

In the win, Montgomery rushed 17 times for 91 yards. Jahmyr Gibbs was also strong for Detroit, scoring 11 carries, 40 yards, and a touchdown. Quarterback Jared Goff finished the team with 18 of 28 for 217 yards and the passing touchdowns. Jameson Williams was the top receiver for Detroit in the win. He caught five passes for 121 yards and a touchdown.

The Lions are on the road at the Arizona Cardinals in Week Three. Week Four, which is the final game of September, they are back at home for Monday Night Football. That game they will host the Seattle Seahawks, before their Week Five bye.

Buccaneers Cover on the Road

The Detroit Lions will win this game, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will battle and compete. The Buccaneers are going to cover the spread. We like the Buccaneers at +7 over the Lions on Sunday.  Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans keep the Buccaneers in the game. But, in the end, Jared Goff and Amon Ra St. Brown along with the Lions’ rushing attack win the game.
