NHL Pick: Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks
Overview
The Anaheim Duck visit the United Center in Chicago tonight where they take on the Blackhawks. These two teams met up last season in the playoffs in what was a very close tough series with the Blackhawks eventually winning in 7 games.
Head to Head Trends
Under is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings in Chicago.
Blackhawks have won 3 of the last 4 regular season meetings in Chicago.
Chicago Blackhawks (-155)
The Chicago Blackhawks are 6th in the Central Division with 10 points but they are still just 3 points out of 1st place. The Blackhawks are off to a pretty good start this season although I think they would like to see a few more pucks going in the net as they are averaging just 2.25 goals per game. On defense they rock solid especially at home where they are allowing just 1.40 goals per game. The Blackhawks have won their last 3 games in a row which included 4 power play goals so I think that’s a good sign for their slightly struggling offense.
Chicago Blackhawks Trends
Blackhawks are 8-3 in their last 11 overall.
Blackhawks are 5-0 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest.
Anaheim Ducks (+135)
The Anaheim Ducks are last in the Pacific Division with just 3 points. This has been an absolutely ridiculous start to the season for the Duck especially on offense. The Ducks have scored just 6 goals total over their first 7 games and 4 of those came in the same game so that means they scored just 2 goals in their other 6 games which is almost impossible to do. I don’t know what’s going on with the Ducks this season after being one of the best teams in the league over the last few years. Maybe it’s just a case of bounces not going their way and things will change soon or maybe it’s the law of averages making up for last season when they should have been close to a .500 team instead of finishing 1st in the Western Conference.
Anaheim Ducks Trends
Ducks are 1-8 in their last 9 overall.
Ducks are 0-5 in their last 5 road games.
Conclusion
I’m going with the Chicago Blackhawks over the Ducks in this one. The Ducks have been stupid bad so far this season and they might bust out of their scoring slump at anytime but until they do I think they are a solid fade.
