Overview
The Calgary Flames head down south to sunny California where they take on division rivals the LA Kings. The Kings haven’t had much luck versus the Flames of late winning just 2 of the last 7 meetings overall and 1 of the last 5 meetings played at home in LA.
Head to head Trends
Flames are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
Under is 20-6-2 in the last 28 meetings.
LA Kings (-200)
The LA Kings are 1st in the Pacific Division with 72 points 2 points ahead of the 2nd place Anaheim Ducks. The Kings were hot there for a while but they haven’t even won back to back games in over a month although to be fair 10 of their last 12 games have been on the road so with just 9 of their last 26 games away from home they are positioned pretty good for the rest of the season.
The Kings actually have a a better road record and better goal differential numbers on the road but things will usually fix itself over a full season and you can already see that happening with the Kings road results of late and if I were a betting man lol I would say they are going to pretty good at home for the rest of the season as well.
LA Kings Trends
Kings are 36-17 in their last 53 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.
Kings are 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win.
Calgary Flames (+180)
The Calgary Flames are 6th in the Pacific Division with 56 points 16 points out of 1st place but more importantly they are 11 points out the final playoff spot so they need to catch fire in a big way if they to still be playing come June.
The Flames have a solid offense averaging 2.72 goals per game but their weak spot this season has been their defense/goaltending allowing 3.07 goals per game. They were doing pretty good on defense for a while but they’re starting to come apart again allowing 3.40 goals per game over their last 10 games.
Calgary Flames Trends
Flames are 9-24 in their last 33 road games.
Flames are 2-6 in their last 8 vs. a team with a winning record.
Conclusion
Even though the Kings are a fairly big favorite I still like them over the Flames in this one. I kind of expect the Kings to be one of the best teams in the league for the rest of the season so they might be a good team to ride depending on the situation and I also think the Flames are starting to fade especially on the road where they have struggled all season.
