Overview
The Nashville Predators visit the PNC Arena in Carolina Tuesday when they play the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes have won the last 3 meetings versus the Predators but they did lose the previous 6 meetings before that. Of the 8 meetings played in Carolina since the year 2000 the Predators are 4-3-1.
Head to Head Trends
Home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
Carolina Hurricanes (+133)
The Carolina Hurricanes are 7th in the Metropolitan Division with 17 points a full 17 points back of the 1st place Pittsburgh Penguins and just 1 point up on the last place Columbus Blue Jackets. The Hurricanes got off to a rough start losing their first 8 games of the season but then it seemed like they turned things around winning 5 of their next 6 games but that didn’t last very long as they have lost 7 of their last 9 games since. The Hurricanes have a below average offense scoring just 2.4 goals per game and they’re not much better on defense either allowing 3.0 goals per game although they do allow just 28.5 shot per game so if their goal tending can pick it up a bit they could turn into a decent team.
Carolina Hurricanes Trends
Hurricanes are 1-5 in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest.
Under is 6-0-1 in Hurricanes last 7 home games.
The Nashville Predators are 1st in the Central Division with 34 points which is just 2 points back of the top spot in the entire NHL and all 3 teams ahead of them have 2 or 3 more games played so you can argue that the Predators are the best team in the NHL right now. The Predators have been super consistent this season not losing more then 1 game in a row so that shows they are a good well rounded team. The Predators average 2.8 goals per game on offense which is good but their main strength is on defense allowing just 2.0 goals per game and that’s with a shitty 77.4% penalty kill so there’s still a lot of room for improvement.
Nashville Predators Trends
Predators are 5-0 in their last 5 games playing on 2 days rest.
Predators are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. a team with a losing record.
Conclusion
I like the Nashville Predators over the Hurricanes in this one. With just 17 points the Hurricanes are one worst teams in the league while the Predators are arguably the best team in the NHL right now.
