Overview
The Ottawa Senators visit the Bell Centre in Montreal Thursday where they take on division rivals the Montreal Canadians. The Senators have done surprisingly well against the Canadians over the past few seasons winning 7 of the last 11 meetings overall and they have also won 3 of the last 6 played in Montreal which may not sound all that impressive but if you can play .500 hockey at a place like the Bell Centre then your doing pretty good.
Head to Head Trends
Senators are 7-4 in the last 11 meetings overall.
Over is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings.
Montreal Canadians (-165)
The Montreal Canadians are 1st in the Atlantic Division with 91 points which is also tied for the best record in the entire NHL. The Canadians have obviously been having a pretty good season although I still say they have had their fair share of good luck this season and if it wasn’t for Carey Price being super hot most of the year they would probably be fighting for a playoff spot right now instead of in 1st place. The Canadians look to be hitting a bit of a cold stretch over the past week losing 4 of their last 5 games with one loss coming in a shootout and another one was a 1-0 overtime loss to the Lightning so I wonder if the good luck is starting wear off for the Canadians.
Montreal Canadians Trends
Canadians are 1-4 in their last 5 overall.
Canadians are 2-5 in their last 7 Thursday games.
The Ottawa Senators are 6th in the Atlantic Division with 71 points 7 points back of the Boston Bruins for the final playoff spot in the East. The Senators have been playing some pretty good hockey over the last few weeks winning 8 of their last 10 games although they did lose their last game versus the Bruins and they also looked a little shaky in their two previous games so their hot streak might be coming to an end but I think they are still worth another shot tonight.
Ottawa Senators Trends
Senators are 8-2 in their last 10 overall.
Senators are 5-1 in their last 6 road games.
Conclusion
I like the Ottawa Senators over the Canadians in this one. Even though the Sens have been a little shaky over their past few games they’re still playing pretty good while the Canadians have hit a little bit of a rough stretch losing 4 of their last 5 games so I think this is a decent spot to play a nice size dog.
