NHL Pick: Ottawa Senators at Pittsburgh Penguins
Overview
The Ottawa Senators are in Pittsburgh tonight where they take on the Penguins. The Pittsburgh Penguins have played the Senators well over the past few seasons winning 10 of the last 14 meetings overall and 9 of the last 11 played at home in Pittsburgh.
Head to head Trends
Senators are 4-10 in the last 14 meetings.
Senators are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Penguins (-190)
The Pittsburgh Penguins finished 8th in the Eastern Conference with 98 points last season but so far this season they are not playing like a playoff team losing all 3 games so far. The Penguins defense has been pretty good allowing 8 goals but their offense has scored just 3 goals total. That’s not exactly good news as this team is built around offense with Crosby, Malkin and now Phil Kessel although every team Kessel has played for has been happy to see him leave.
Pittsburgh Penguins Trends
Penguins are 7-19 in their last 26 overall.
Penguins are 8-20 in their last 28 vs. Eastern Conference.
Ottawa Senators (+170)
The Ottawa Senators finished 7th in the Eastern Conference with 99 points last season due to an epic last month and a half of the season that saw them win 21 of their last 27 games in large part due to rookie goaltender Andrew Hammond. As a Bruins fan that was all pretty annoying as that record breaking last month comeback forced the Bruins out of a playoff spot but I’m starting to get over it.
So far this season the Senators have picked up right where they left off winning 3 of their 4 games. The Senators have really showed some fire power on offense scoring 16 goals although to be fair 15 of those goals came against the Blue Jackets, Sabres, and Maple Leafs who may be the three worst teams in the league.
Roster update: @CraigAnderson41 will start in goal tonight @penguins while @ShanePrince18 will dress in place of inj. LW MacArthur.

Ottawa Senators Trends
Senators are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. Metropolitan.
Senators are 11-4 in their last 15 vs. a team with a losing record.
Conclusion
I’m going with the Pittsburgh Penguins over the Senators in this one. I know -175 is pretty high but Penguins have way too much talent to start the season 0-4 and I think tonight’s game is a good spot for the Penguins with the Senators playing on back to back night’s.
