Week Two NFL Pick: Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers
Steelers Look to Rebound Against Visiting Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) play the Pittsburgh Steelers (0-0-1) at 1 p.m. E.T. today. The Chiefs, led by second-year QB Patrick Mahomes, beat the LA Chargers in Week One 38-28. The Steelers were stunned last week by the Browns, as Pittsburgh had to settle for a 21-21 tie. Our Week Two Kansas City plays Pittsburgh NFL pick has the Steelers at -4.0 and the over/under at 52.0. Last week both team’s saw their defenses struggle. We do expect a lot of points to be scored in this game. But the big question is how will the young and electric Mahomes perform in relationship to the experienced and resilient Roethlisberger?
Kansas City Offense vs Steeler Defense
Against the Chargers, the Chiefs posted 362.0 yards last week. That included 256 passing yards by Mahomes. The young QB tossed four TD passes. Tyreek Hill caught two of those touchdown tosses. The rush attack was good for a total of 106 yards. Hill also scored a TD on a punt return of 91 yards. The KC kicking game was 5-of-5 on extra points and 1-of-1 on FGs.
Against the Browns last week, the Steelers posted seven sacks and 13 tackles for a loss. T.J Watt had three of those sacks and 4.5 of those TFL. CB Cameron Sutton brought in one pick.
The defense had a tough time against the run, as they allowed 177 yards on the ground and gave up two rushing scores. They were better against the pass, holding Tyrod Taylor to 197 yards and one TD.
Pittsburgh Offense vs Chiefs Defense
In his first game of the 2018 season, Roethlisberger was dismal. He tossed three picks and fumbled twice, losing both. The QB was also sacked four times. Still, Big Ben threw for 313 yards and one score. RB James Conner rushed for 135 yards on 31 carries. He scored two times. Receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster and Antonio Brown combined for 14 receptions and 212 yards. Look for Roethlisberger to exploit both Smith and Brown in today’s game.
Last week against the Chargers, the Chiefs gave up 424 passing yards and three scores through the air. They were unable to put much pressure on QB Phillip Rivers.
Safety Ron Parker was able to grab one pick. The Chief secondary is vulnerable, while the team’s pass rush is weak. We expect the Chiefs to struggle to control Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh pass attack.
Week Two Kansas City Plays Pittsburgh NFL Pick
Our Week Two Kansas City plays Pittsburgh NFL pick likes the Steelers at -4.0. We do think they will take the KC secondary apart. At the same time, we expect Mahomes to have a decent game and Hill, who had an exceptional game in Week One, could certainly break one on a punt or kick. However, we see the Steelers pulling away in this game in the second half. In terms of the over/under, we also like the over at 52.0. There should be at least 35 points scored by the Steelers and another 21 by the Chiefs.
