The New York Giants (0-1) and Dallas Cowboys (0-1) meet tonight at 8:20 p.m. E.T. It’s already been a crazy Sunday as the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and Pittsburgh Steelers all lost. And the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers tied, partly due to Minnesota’s rookie kicker missing all three of his field goal attempts. That included a short chip shot on the final play in OT. We expect this game to be quite unpredictable. Why should it in any way be normal after today’s contests? Our Week Two New York plays Dallas SNF pick offers Dallas at -3.5 and the over/under at 42.5.
New York Offense vs Cowboys Defense
For the Giants last Sunday, it was Saquon Barkley who carried the offense. He had 106 yards on 18 attempts. Barkley averaged 5.9 YPA and scored one TD. WR Odell Beckham Jr. had 11 catches for 111 yards. But he could not find pay dirt. In fact, Manning, despite completing 62% of his passes, did not throw a TD pass. He did give up one pick and was sacked once. Manning had 210 passing yards. The offense scored just 15 points with nine of those being on field goals.
Against the Panthers last week, the Cowboys allowed just 16 points. But they scored only eight. The defense had three sacks, three TFL, and four PD. They also forced two fumbles and recovered one. The big knock for this defense is their inability to stop the run. That could certainly hurt them tonight.
Dallas Offense vs Giants Defense
The Dallas Cowboys need Dak Prescott to throw some TD passes. Against the Panthers last week, he threw for 170 yards, completing just over 65% of his passes. He was sacked six times. WR Cole Beasely made seven catches for 73 yards. RB Ezekiel Elliot ran for 69 of the team’s 94 rushing yards. He scored once.
In their first game, the Giant D allowed 176 passing yards and 137 rushing yards. They gave up one passing and one rushing TD. It was not a bad performance, but it wasn’t good enough. They only posted one sack and one TFL. They did have eight passes defended. The Giant D allowed 20 points to the Jags. They did not have a bad performance, but it also wasn’t great.
Week Two New York Plays Dallas SNF Pick
We do think that Manning will find his stride tonight and Barkley will not be stopped. We also believe that Elliot will have a solid game. This comes down to QB Prescott’s performance. We think he’ll continue to struggle. Our Week Two New York plays Dallas SNF pick is the Giants at +3.5. We’re going with the under at 42.5.
