Indiana Fever vs. Washington Mystics Betting Preview

The action in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup will continue on Friday night as the Indiana Fever take on the Washington Mystics. This is a matchup of two of the worst teams in the league, and that should actually lead to a good battle on the floor.

Indiana comes into this game with an overall record of 2-9, but they did just recently beat the Chicago Sky in a Commissioner’s Cup game. The Fever are one of the most high-profiled teams in the league, but that has not led to many wins.

Washington comes into this game with a record of 0-9, and they just haven’t been playing good basketball this season. The Mystics are going to win a game at some point, and Friday night will provide a good opportunity.

Washington is a slim 1.5-point betting favorite in this matchup, and the over/under line is set at 163.5 total points.

Indiana Can’t Get Stops

If the Indiana Fever are going to find a way to turn their season around then at some point this team will have to start playing defense. Indiana is currently allowing over 90 points per game, and that’s just not even close to being good enough to win games.

Caitlin Clark is having a decent start to her WNBA career, but she is only averaging 15.6 points per game. The Fever were counting on Clark to lead the way on offense, but she continues to get harassed by opposing teams.

The Fever have started to play much better of late, but there is a reason that this team has gone just 2-9 to begin the year.

Mystics Must Make Shots

If the Washington Mystics are going to get their first win of the season then they will have to shoot the ball well in this game. Washington is shooting just 39 percent from the field, and they are scoring just 72 points per game.

Guard Ariel Atkins is leading the team with 13.2 points per game, but this team just needs to find more scoring options. Washington will be trying to slow down the game on offense, but they still need to score points.

The Mystics have lost three of their last four games by double-digits, and staying in the game is going to be the first priority.

Mystics Slip Past the Fever

Life for Caitlin Clark has not been easy so far during her WNBA career, and that is going to be the case in this game as well. Clark will continue to get some physical play thrown at her in this matchup, and that will hurt Indiana on offense.

Washington just has not been a good offensive team this season, but they are playing a Fever team that can’t get stops. Look for the Mystics to take advantage of that fact on Friday night as they will get some easy buckets.

Bet the Washington Mystics to win and cover the 1.5-point spread as they are finally able to pick up their first win of the season.
