2018 Rose Bowl Game: #3 Georgia Bulldogs and #2 Oklahoma Sooners
Georgia has had quite a ride. At first, a lot of folks did not believe in them. But Georgia started the season 9-0. Along the way they beat #24 Notre Dame 20-19 and #17 Mississippi State 31-3. Then on Nov 11 the Bulldogs lost to #10 Auburn 40-17. Georgia won their final two games of the season and took the SEC East with a 7-1 conference record. That set up a rematch with #2 Auburn on Dec 2 for the SEC title. Georgia beat the Auburn Tigers 28-7 and won a trip to the CFP Semifinals.
The Oklahoma Sooners finished on top of the Big 12 with an 8-1 record. The Big 12 does not have divisions, which meant the number one and two teams at the end of the regular season played for the conference title. The matchup featured Oklahoma and beat #11 TCU. The Sooners beat the Horned Frogs 41-17 to win the conference championship and earn the number two ranking in the nation. The line has been fluctuating on this game today, and now ranges from 2.0 to 3.0 with Georgia being favored. The over/under, which opened at 59.0, rangers from 61.0 to 62.0.
2018 Allstate Sugar Bowl: #4 Alabama Crimson Tide and #1 Clemson Tigers
How do you spell “rematch?” The two teams that battle for the national championship in 2017 meet in the second CFP Semifinal games. The #4 Alabama Crimson Tide did not win the SEC. In fact, they did not even win their division. Instead, they finished second to Auburn, but when the Tigers lost to Georgia in the SEC championship game, Auburn fell to number seven in the nation and ‘Bama went to number four.
On the way to their number one ranking, the Clemson Tigers had to play a very difficult schedule. In 2017, they beat six teams in the nation’s top 25. Their one loss, which occurred in midseason, was to the Syracuse Orange 27-24. Syracuse would finish 2017 with a record of 4-8. Still, the Tigers took the ACC Atlantic Division with a 7-1 conference record. Then they met and beat #7 Miami 38-3 to win the ACC title. Despite being ranked number one, Clemson is considered the underdog in this game and are at +3.0 or +3.5. The over/under is anywhere from 47.0 to 48.0
