Sports fans in Washington do not have access to online casinos and online sports betting. However, bettors in the state will have more retail sports betting options soon.
Caesars Sportsbook is Set to Open in Washington
Caesars Sportsbook will be available in Spokane soon as the Spokane Tribe has an agreement with the sportsbook to set up a location on its property. The Spokane gaming facility is located in Airway Heights on the eastern end of Washington.
The sportsbook will be part of an expansion at the casino. Carol Evans, Chairwoman of the Spokane Tribe of Indians, stated in a press release;
“As we look toward the completion of our first phase of expansion, this partnership is an important component for us as a growing casino.”
As of right now, only retail sports betting is permitted in the state. Players must visit a gaming facility to place a wager. The partnership will allow potential customers to get acclimated to one of the best sportsbooks in the industry.
The General Manager of the Spokane Tribe Casino, Javier De La Rose, stated in a press release;
“This partnership also allows us to bring a new type of guest to the property while offering expanded gaming options for all players.”
The expansion at Spokane Tribe Casino will include a dining option in the area. Players can place their wagers once the expansion phase is completed. The expansion should be completed before the Super Bowl takes place.
FanDuel Also Plans to Open a Sportsbook in Washington
FanDuel Sportsbook is set to launch its retail location at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort at 4 pm PST. The casino is a short ferry ride from Seattle, and the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will include former Seattle Seahawk and former U.S. Congressman Steve Largen.
The Hall-of-Famer leads the Seahawks’ all-time list in a few categories. The records include receiving leader in yards (13,089), touchdowns (100), and catches (819).
Largen will have the honor to make the ceremonial first bet at the casino. The FanDuel Sportsbook area will be 2,000 square feet. It will also feature three live betting windows and 12 IGT PlaySports self-service betting kiosks.
Sports Betting is Continuing to Expand in Washington
Online sports betting is not expected to gain traction any time soon; however, there is no doubt that the market is gaining interest from residents across the state. The Snoqualmie Tribe was the first to offer sports betting as it launched just in time for the NFL season opener between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys on September 9.
This is the only casino that offers some sort of online sports betting, but only when bettors are inside the casino due to geofencing. Allowing mobile sports betting has made live betting available.
Nine other tribes in the state have approved sports betting licenses to operate in the state. BetMGM Sportsbook was able to enter the market at the Emerald Queen Casino and another location with a partnership with the Puyallup Tribe in October.
