Tennessee Titans Preview 2019 – Team
The Tennessee Titans need to get more from their pass attack, and they must figure out how to score more points. Our Tennessee Titans Preview 2019 notes that this club will put a decent defense on the field. Plus, the Titan schedule is fairly friendly. It could help them get into the postseason.
Tennessee – Offense
The fact is QB Marcus Mariota (331 ATT, 228 COMP, 2528 YDs, 11 TDs, 8 INTs) needs to be able to manufacture points. In four NFL seasons, he’s struggled. WR Adam Humphries joins the Titans after making 76 catches for the Bucs last season, averaging 10.7 YPC and scoring five TDs. WR Corey Davis (65 REC, 891 YDs, 13.7 AVG. 4 TDs) is the team’s top returning receiver. RBs Derrick Henry (215 ATT, 1059 YDs, 4.9 AVG, 12 TDs) and Dion Lewis (155 ATT, 517 YDs, 3.3 AVG, 1 TD), who provided a solid one-two punch in 2018, are ready to repeat and, hopefully, expand their fine performances in 2019. The O-line needs to protect Mariota better.
Titans – Defense
The D-line is anchored by DE Jurrell Casey who led the team with seven sacks. LB Jayon Brown posted 107 tackles and six sacks. He’s the heart of the LB unit. Last season, safety Kevin Byard (96 TKLs, 4 INT) and corner Malcolm Butler (3 INT) finished first and second in picks. Both start in 2019. Logan Ryan and Kenny Vaccaro round out the remaining corner and safety spots.
Special Teams
With PK Ryan Succop on IR, Cairo Santos, who was 14-18 on FG and 22-23 on XP with two teams last season, gets the nod. Pro Bowl punter Brett Kern returns for his 12th NFL season. Darius Jennings did a fine job on kick returns last season and is back, while punt returner Adoree’ Jackson has been replaced by Adam Humphries.
Tennessee Titans Preview 2019 – Prediction
This Tennessee Titans Preview 2019 likes the Titans due to their solid rush attack, fine secondary, and friendly schedule. However, Marcus Mariota really needs to come through in what is his fifth season in the NFL and contract year. If he cannot become the QB he needs to be, this team will miss the mark again.
