Women’s Final Four – UConn Huskies vs. Iowa Hawkeyes Preview
The Women’s Final Four is set to take place on Friday night, and there are four great teams set to battle it out. In the second semifinal game of the night, the UConn Huskies will take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in what should be a battle.
UConn upset the USC Trojans in order to get to the Final Four, but they come into this game with a ton of confidence. The Huskies have lost just five games all season long, and they are a storied program in women’s college basketball.
Iowa brings an overall record of 33-4 into this game, and they have been one of the best teams in the country all season long. The Hawkeyes had to survive a tough game against LSU in order to win the Albany Regional.
The Iowa Hawkeyes are slim 2.5-point betting favorites in this game and the over/under line is set at 162.5 points.
Huskies Want to Defend
The UConn Huskies are a team that can win games in a number of different ways, but they will be looking to play defense in this game. UConn held four straight teams to 64 points or less before struggling a bit to slow down the mighty USC Trojans.
Head coach Geno Auriemma is the best in the sport, and he will be trying to come up with a game plan to slow down Caitlin Clark in this matchup. UConn has a superstar of their own in Paige Bueckers, and she will need to lead the way for her team.
Bueckers scored 28 points in the Regional Final win over USC, and she will need to set the tone in this game. UConn is a team with not a lot of depth, and the stars will have to shine bright in this matchup.
Hawkeyes Can Shoot
The Iowa Hawkeyes are a team that wants to put points on the board, and they can make shots with the best of them. Iowa is scoring over 91 points per game this season, and they aren’t afraid to shoot shots from anywhere.
Caitlin Clark is scoring more than 32 points per game this season, and she just poured in 41 points in the win over LSU. Even if teams try to take Clark away on offense, Iowa has been able to come up with some big buckets throughout the year.
This team does struggle to defend, and they will need to be solid on that end of the floor to find a way to win this matchup.
Clark Leads the Way
This is going to be a great matchup on Friday night, and there will be a pair of superstars looking to put on a show. For as good as Bueckers has been this season, Clark is simply on another level.
The Huskies are going to make things hard on Iowa to score points in this game, but eventually the Hawkeyes are going to make enough shots to create separation. Clark is on a mission to win a national championship, and she will at least get that shot on Sunday.
Bet the Iowa Hawkeyes -2.5 on Friday night as they win big and advance past the UConn Huskies.
