NFL Pick: New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills
Overview
The New England Patriots are in Buffalo for a a big week 2 matchup versus division rivals the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots have owned the Bills over past decade winning 18 of the last 20 meetings straight up but they did lose the last meeting and have just covered the spread in just 2 of the last 5.
Head to Head Trends
Patriots are 21-10-1 ATS in their last 32 meetings.
Patriots are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 meetings in Buffalo.
Buffalo Bills (+1)
The Buffalo Bills finished 2nd in the AFC East last season with a 9-7 record which was a big improvement over the last few seasons and actually their best season since 2005 when they also went 9-7.
Last week the Bills beat the Colts 27-14 at home in Buffalo. I think that was a big win for the Bills but the NFL is all about quarterbacks I just don’t know how good they can be with a Tyrod Taylor at the QB position.
Buffalo Bills Trends
Bills are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games.
Bills are 9-19-1 ATS in their last 29 games following a ATS win.
New England Patriots (-1)
The New England Patriots finished 1st in the AFC East with a 12-4 record. The Patriots had one of the best offenses in the league averaging 29 points per game and they also had one of the better defenses in the league allowing just 19 points per game.
In week 1 the Patriots beat the Steelers 28-21 and even though the Patriots won the game I think the Steelers outplayed them. Roesthlisberger threw for over 350 years plus the Steelers also rushed for 134 yards so the Pats defense is going to have to be better although to be fair the Tyrod Taylor isn’t exactly Ben Roesthlisberger.
New England Patriots Trends
Patriots are 10-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
Patriots are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. win.
Conclusion
I’m going with the New England Patriots over the Bills in this one. The Bills are a solid team with a good defense but this is a quarterback league and I’ll take Tom Brady over Tyrod Taylor any day of the week.
