One of the more interesting games in the National Football League for preseason Week 2 will take place Sunday night. The San Francisco 49ers are on the road at the New Orleans Saints.
The New Orleans Saints won their preseason opener on the road at Arizona on Saturday. A season ago, the Saints went 9-8 and tied with Tampa, but lost the tiebreaker in the divisional title.
The San Francisco 49ers lost their first preseason game on Saturday. The 49ers were downed by the Titans 17-13. San Francisco is looking to get back to the Super Bowl for the third time in four seasons.
The New Orleans Saints are -3 on the road at the 49ers in this game. The total for the preseason affair is set at 38.5.
Saints Looking for Second Straight
Derek Carr is back as the starting quarterback for the Saints. He completed just 2 of 6 passes for 12 yards in his preseason opener. He will be followed by Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler. In the preseason game, Rattler actually ran for a touchdown.
Alvin Kamara is back as the lead running back for New Orleans. He will get most of the carries, but look for Jamaal Williams to get his share as well. Williams got six in the preseason win. The receiving core is led by Chris Olave, along with Rashid Shaheed and A.T Perry.
The Saints will open up the regular season on September 8th in a divisional rivalry game against the Carolina Panthers. New Orleans then goes on the road for Week 2 at the Dallas Cowboys.
NFC Kings
For San Francisco, it will once again be Brock Purdy leading the offense. The former Iowa State signal caller did not play in the first preseason game. He will be using many of his top targets again, although the Brandon Aiyuk drama continues to play out.
Deebo Samuel continues to lead the way, along with Jauan Jennings and George Kittle at the tight end spot. Christian McCaffrey is the key to the offense. The top running back in the league a season ago has always been able to take whatever load has been thrown at him.
The 49ers will host the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. In Week 2 the 49ers go on the road for the first of back to back road games. The 49ers will play at the Vikings on September 15th and the Rams on September 22nd.
Fun Preseason Game
We like this game. The Saints have some athletic talent that we are going to get a chance to see. The preseason is meant for guys that do not always get all the time in the regular season. We are going to see some guys that will get a chance here. This should be a fun game, but in the end, we are going to take the 49ers to beat the Saints. Take the 49ers +3 and consider taking them at +130 on the moneyline. Enjoy the game!
