St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs Betting Preview
One of the best rivalries in all of sports is taking place this weekend as the St. Louis Cardinals are visiting the Chicago Cubs. Game three of the series is set for Saturday afternoon, and each team has already picked up a win in the first two.
St. Louis continues to be a major disappointment this season, as they are just 44-54 overall and in fourth place in the NL Central. The Cardinals had won six straight games before losing on Friday, but it’s too late to make a serious run.
Chicago comes into this game with a record of 46-51, and they are just barely hanging around in the NL Central Division. The Cubs can still get back into the playoff race, but they are going to have to go on a big winning streak if they want to be a serious contender.
For game three of this series, it is the St. Louis Cardinals that are the moneyline betting favorites at -120 over the Chicago Cubs.
Cardinals Can Score
The St. Louis Cardinals are a team that has plenty of thunder in their lineup, as they have belted 133 home runs this season. St. Louis has been terrific at the plate in the second half of the season, but they were held to just three runs in the loss on Friday.
Miles Mikolas will make the start on Saturday, and he has gone just 6-5 with a 4.14 ERA so far this season. St. Louis just hasn’t gotten a ton of great pitching this season, and that has put too much pressure on the offense.
Cubs Going With Bullpen Day
The Cubs are going to go with a bullpen day on Saturday afternoon, and it will be Michael Fulmer taking the ball in this one. Fulmer isn’t even one of the best arms in the bullpen for the Cubs, as he has gone just 1-5 with a 4.43 ERA on the year.
Cody Bellinger is red-hot at the plate for the Cubs, and he leads all MLB players when it comes to hits in July. Bellinger belted a two-run homer in the win on Friday, and he is going to be a big key for the Cubs in this game as well.
Cardinals Win Game 3
There have been many teams that have found a ton of success while going with a bullpen day, but the Cubs don’t have the arms to get that done. Chicago struggled to get outs from their bullpen in the win on Friday afternoon, and the Cardinals are going to have a big day at the plate in this one.
While the Cubs are a team that does have some big boppers in that lineup, the Cardinals have a better overall lineup. St. Louis will score some runs early in this one, and that will allow them to take control of this game.
Bet the St. Louis Cardinals -120 over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday afternoon.
