FanDuel Launching Retail Sportsbooks in both Maryland and Arizona
FanDuel Sportsbook has witnessed the success of entering numerous sports betting markets throughout the country. FanDuel operates in thirteen different states as it will debut in new states like Arizona and Maryland.
Maryland will become the eleventh state to enter the sports betting market this year. The launch will happen sooner than expected, as many believed that the state would not witness sports betting until January 2022.
Fanduel enters the Maryland sports betting industry
Gov. Larry Hogan, who was a heavy supporter of bringing sports betting to Maryland, signed the 2021 House Bill 940, which passed the legislation in April 2021. MGM National Harbor will be taking wagers at 12:30 pm on Thursday and the Cordish Companies and Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland will have its opening ceremony at 9:30 am on Friday, all pending regulatory approval.
FanDuel will be hosting a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. In attendance, former Baltimore Raven legend Ed Reed will make the first wager at the gaming facility. FanDuel will be one of the two casinos that have approved licenses to start the sports betting operation in Maryland.
The 14,000 square foot lounge will feature a 100-foot-wide media screen. Sports & Social Maryland will also have two main bars, luxury viewing chairs, and VIP areas that will be surrounded by the largest casino across Maryland.
The FanDuel sportsbook will also have five betting windows, one VIP window, and 26 self-service betting kiosks. These betting kiosks will be spread throughout the property to speed up the process for those who want to place numerous wagers throughout the day.
Fanduel will also be putting on an event in Arizona
In Arizona, FanDuel will be holding its FanFest Celebration in Scottsdale on Saturday from 1 pm to 8 pm MT. FanDuel will be offering new customers the opportunity to sign up and receive two tickets to be a part of the FanFest by visiting the page on its website.
The FanFest live musical portion of the event will be starting at 6:30 pm. It will feature two from Grammy Award-winning hip hop artist Nelly and musician Gryffin that will be exclusive to those who have the tickets upon entry.
FanFest will also be showing a screening of Lionsgate’s film, American Underdog, which will be in theaters on Christmas Day. Zachary Levi, who is the star of the film, will also be in attendance.
Other sports stars will be joining the event as sports-themed carnival games and food trucks will be on site. FanDuel was one of the six operators that were able to launch its products and services in Arizona.
Arizona has already started its sports betting market on September 9th to kick off the NFL season. With other sports back in the mix, FanDuel’s retail sportsbook could see an increase in volume in the final month of 2021. With the Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Suns holding the best records in the NFL and NBA, the average volume of sports bets will certainly increase.
