Eastern Conference
in the Eastern Conference last season, the Atlantic Division Tampa Bay Lighting were tops. In fact, their 62-14-4 record was the best in the NHL. After that, in the Atlantic, it was the Boston Bruins Toronto Maple Leafs gaining entrance to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Metropolitan Division was won by the Washington Capitals, the 2017 Stanley Cup champions. They narrowly got by the New York Islanders, as the Caps were 48-26-8 and the Islanders went 48-27-7. Western Conference
In the NHL Central, the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets finished first and second respectively. The Predators recorded a mark of 47-29-6 and the Jets were 47-30-5. Three other teams qualified for the playoffs, as the St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars, and Colorado Avalanche finished third, fourth, and fifth.
The Calgary Flames topped the Pacific Division as well as the Western Conference, as they went 50-25-7. In the hunt for the Stanley Cup, two other teams qualified, the San Jose Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights.
